Fieldbus Information Sites

This site provides a significant amount of technical documentation covering Siemens equipment, systems, and software. It also includes a link to downloads. For anyone wanting to prove a case for electronic documentation, this site is as extensive as any. One word of caution, be prepared to search and keep the search focused on the topic. After a few times into the site, users will find navigation to a specific topic is relatively easy.

PACTware’s site
PACTware is open source and available free of charge to members. Every member can use the software freely and develop it further. This is under the condition that the consortium can then present these further developments as open source. The consortium is the administrator of PACTware, and the development work is financed by the membership fees.

Emerson Process Management, DeltaV site. Includes a variety of fieldbus, HMI, Instrumentation and Control, and data management links. Very large site and users are cautioned to stay focused on the topic they are researching. It is easy to get sidetracked in this site. (Not necessarily a bad thing, but may take more hours than were planned on the original search.

The ARC Advisory Group. Very involved in studies surrounding future trends of instrumentation. Includes a registration form for obtaining more in depth data and information about busses, instrumentation topics, survey findings, etc. Most information on this site is geared towards selling in-depth reports.

From GridConnect (formerly Synergetic), a comparison of several fieldbuses. The site includes text overviews and AUDIO interviews from each organization's director. (You can listen to while you drive down the road to the next fieldbus meeting.)

National Instrument's 67 page overview of Foundation Fieldbus. It contains many of the same topics found in other guides, but also gives a different treatment to some of those topics. This is very useful for those who have read the standards and other guides and want a different description or explination.
